My name is Sedra and I recently graduated from UCR with a major in Biology. My experiences working with disadvantaged communities in the Inland Empire have inspired me to pursue a path to care for medically struggling individuals. I hope to work with members of my area and help spread community health awareness in Riverside!

Amer Aldaas

My name is Amer Aldaas, I graduated from UCR in 2019 with a B.S. in biochemistry and I currently work as a scribe in the emergency department at San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital in Banning, California. Growing up in the inland empire has exposed me to the healthcare disparities present in this community, which I am motivated to address as an aspiring physician.

Kelly Chen

I am in the Class of 2022 at UCR. I currently work in a research lab that conducts research on chronic wounds and wound healing. Due to immense health disparities I have noticed through my own lens, I want to help lessen the gap one day as a physician. I hope to contribute to equal access to healthcare.

My name is Eric and I’m in my final year of undergrad at CSUSB as a biology major. I currently work at the hospital as an ER scribe. I aspire to become an ER physician to serve and give back to the community I have grown up in my whole life.

Niki Nobahari

My name is Niki Nobahari. I am an incoming senior at Martin Luther King Jr. High School in Riverside, CA. I aspire to become a physician and help the members of my community.

So, why strokes?

Every 40 seconds, someone has a stroke. Strokes occur when blood supply to the brain is reduced or disrupted. Receiving medical attention immediately can significantly reduce the deficits of a stroke. We hope to spread stroke awareness so that members of our community can learn how to reduce the risk of developing a stroke as well as how to respond if they identify a stroke. Unlike other chronic conditions, a stroke acts fast and is sometimes deadly with irreversible consequences. It is vital that our community can recognize the signs in order to be able to act FAST during onset of a stroke. Many members of the Riverside County have suffered from strokes and the repercussions that come with them, therefore, it is imperative that we spread awareness
